The Eastern North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals after they were allegedly found transporting a substantial quantity of suspected narcotic drugs at Amankwakrom, along the Agordeke–Donkorkrom road.
The suspects, identified as Yaw Ntoso and Perpetual Ayitey, were apprehended on 13 November 2025 during a routine snap check mounted by officers in the area. According to the police, the team became suspicious after stopping a Kia Bongo truck driven by Ntoso, prompting a thorough search of the vehicle.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the Police Service explained that the search led to the discovery of three white sacks concealed in the vehicle. Inside the sacks, officers found 135 compressed slabs of dried leaves believed to be cannabis sativa. Each slab was tightly wrapped in yellowish sellotape, a packaging style commonly associated with bulk transport of illegal substances.

The police noted that the quantity seized forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on the movement of illicit drugs within the region.
Both suspects were immediately taken into custody and are assisting investigators with the case.
The police indicated that once the investigation is concluded and the substances are subjected to the necessary forensic analysis, the two will be put before the court to face the appropriate charges.
The Eastern North Regional Command has since reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying highway patrols and snap checks as part of broader measures aimed at combating the trafficking of narcotic drugs across communities in the region.
