The Student Workforce and Innovation Movement (SWIM), an initiative aimed at connecting young people to educational, professional, and employment opportunities, is set to be launched on November 9, 2026, at Breman Esikuman.

The initiative seeks to empower young people across Africa by connecting them with experts from various universities and providing them with the skills and opportunities needed to prepare for the global workforce.

According to SWIM’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Miss Louv Ford, the initiative was established in response to the challenges many young people face in accessing opportunities, despite having the talent, skills, and ideas needed to succeed.

"For the past several years I’ve had the opportunity to meet talker Ted, innovative young people with brilliant ideas, but I also saw something that bothered me: talent wasn’t the problem; access was. Access to information, opportunity, and technology—that is what led me to create swim," she said.

Miss Ford explained that SWIM would provide students with opportunities to connect with others, develop their professional skills, and build their profiles for the international job market.

“Our first partner was Carolina TIUA at Wisconsin North Carolina," with the classes they’re able to work on paid opportunities from businesses that are on boards to our platforms. Now these individuals are learning; they’re building their resume for the global workforce," she added.

The launch in Breman Esikuman is expected to introduce the initiative’s vision and highlight its plans to connect students with learning opportunities, professional networks, and pathways into the workforce.
