His remarkable run is reported to have eclipsed the time set by sprint legend Usain Bolt at a similar age. Bolt recorded 19.93 seconds in the under-18 category in 2004.

It also marked the first legal sub-20-second 200m performance of Gout’s career. Although he had previously run 19.84 seconds, that effort was wind-assisted. His prior personal best stood at 20.06 seconds, achieved when he was just 16 years old.

Reports indicate that the teenager will skip the upcoming Commonwealth Games to focus on the World Under-20 Championships in Oregon this August.

Born in Queensland to South Sudanese parents, Gout’s rise continues to highlight his discipline, talent, and growing status as one of the most exciting young sprinters in global athletics.
