In a notice to the public, GES Management said the decision forms part of efforts to recover instructional hours lost during the recent industrial action.
Under the new directive, basic schools are expected to operate as usual on Thursday, November 5, and Friday, November 6, 2026. This means pupils and teachers will not observe the previously scheduled mid-term break.

The Service has therefore urged teachers, students, parents and guardians to take note of the revised arrangement and make the necessary preparations.
GES also appealed for the continued cooperation and commitment of all stakeholders as it works to protect teaching and learning time and ensure quality education.
The cancellation means basic school pupils will attend classes on the two dates initially set aside for the mid-term break.
