Binance has outlined a series of security measures following a major security incident that reportedly resulted in an estimated $6.3 billion in losses.
In an initial investigation update, the cryptocurrency exchange said the incident may have originated from a compromised laptop belonging to a DevOps engineer, which allegedly allowed an attacker to access a service container and submit unauthorised withdrawal transactions.
However, Binance said it had found no evidence that any wallet private keys were exposed during the incident.

The exchange also assured customers that their funds remain safe, stressing that it would absorb all losses through its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) and corporate funds.
